Anti Back
Spin Tool

The ABS TOOL is a device installed at the bottom of the well, above the rotor of the PCP pump, with the purpose of preventing the reverse flow of fluid when the pumping unit stops. It consists of seven main components: stem, traveling piston, piston cap, small nipple, upper coupling, lower coupling, and external and internal seals of the piston.

Benefits

Protects the internal seal of the piston from wear and damage
Prevents sand production and blockage of the well
Prevents disconnection of rods and reduces the risk of accidents
Optimizes production and reduces maintenance costs
Allows for safe and efficient operation of the pumping unit

Operation

1

When the pumping unit is turned off, the piston is at the bottom of its stroke, resting on the small nipple, creating a seal and preventing fluid from falling back and returning to the rotor of the PCP pump.
2

When the surface unit is turned on, the rod string rotates and moves the pump rotor, lifting the fluid and unseating the piston.
3

The piston rises to engage with the wedges of the upper coupling, rotating in unison with the stem and the rod string.
4

While the surface unit is operating, the piston remains in this position, allowing the fluid to flow freely around it towards the surface.
5

When the pumping unit stops, the fluid begins to return to the bottom of the well, and the piston falls back to the small nipple, creating a complete seal and preventing reverse flow of the fluid.
